A secure digitally focused organisation

The Department for Works & Pensions is responsible for the administration of benefits and pensions worth an estimated 10% of GDP, reaching millions of people right across the UK. To make services like Universal Credit successful and secure DWP embarked on a reform programme to build an entirely new platform that provides people with a modern online experience when accessing employment benefits. The aim was to develop a fully digital service. 2T Security is a long-term trusted advisor assisting in the development of Universal Credit’s security architecture, and more recently supporting their security programme’s evolving delivery and operating models to address security automation, assurance, and compliance at scale, as well as threat and incident management.

Projects undertaken by 2T Security include:

  • Risk assessment and security architecture services for the Universal Credit digital service.
  • Threat Intelligence management. Testing and building multiple solutions to enable the department to choose the right product.
  • Endpoint detection and response. Designed and deployed to over 100,000 end points.
  • Email content filtering and protection.
  • Network packet analysis to identify new and emerging threats.
  • Enterprise security monitoring for critical business system.
  • Vulnerability scanning across on premises and cloud environments.
  • Analysis capabilities to help identify fraud occurring in online systems.

Results:

  • New online service for Universal Credit, now used by over 6 million people every month.
  • 100,000+ Front line and back office benefitting from latest threat mitigation technology.
  • The ability to respond effectively to organisation wide security incidents, and identify fraud within the benefits system.
